A New Generation’s Struggle for Freedom: The Procyberian Systems Distribution (PSD) Community Growing from Turkey
A Call to Young Developers for Copyleft Philosophy and a Free Community
Hello, young developer friends and technology enthusiasts,
Today we want to introduce you to an exciting new community growing out of Turkey, with a vision and a philosophy worth watching. In an age when technology is rapidly falling under the monopoly of giant corporations, we often see software and algorithms turn into closed "black boxes." Precisely at this point, the philosophy of Free Software is the strongest shield of our independence in the digital world. That knowledge remain open to everyone’s access, and that the code we write remain the common property of society without passing into the ownership of large corporations, is not merely a preference—it is the greatest responsibility of you, the young people who will build the future.
We place great value on every local and global step that refuses to monopolize knowledge and that defends the freedom of code and of information. We will continue to give our strongest support to free-software projects that wage this struggle for independence.
Now, to understand as clearly as possible the philosophy and goals of the Procyberian Systems Distribution (PSD) project, which is advancing steadily along this path, we hand the floor directly to them. Here is that valuable statement from the community itself:
The PSD Operating System and Free Software Ecosystem
The PSD Project is an operating system, application suite, and internet-services project firmly committed to the Free Software principles initiated by Richard Stallman. This project aims at pure democracy, mutual cooperation, and the development of knowledge under the protection of Copyleft licenses.
Our Core Aims
Global Leadership in Computing: To lead the entire world of software, hardware, and information technology with the Free Software philosophy.
License Modernization: To identify and correct shortcomings in existing free-software licenses and to raise public awareness in that direction.
Expanding the Community Network: To bring together developers, designers, and thinkers who share the same ideals in a global network.
Kernel and System Architecture
PSD aims to study different free kernel technologies and system architectures without remaining dependent on a single structure, and to produce ISO images with them:
Linux-libre Kernel: A 100% free kernel structure that contains no proprietary components (binary blobs) is our primary focus.
Customized Linux Kernel: Specialized Linux distributions optimized for performance and philosophical compatibility.
GNU Hurd (Experimental): Experimental work based on the microkernel architecture of the GNU project.
BSD Systems: BSD-based studies aimed at technology transfer, learning system architectures, and philosophical comparison.
Desktop and Development Tools
User-experience and software-production processes will remain fully bound to free standards:
Desktop Environment: The GNOME desktop environment has been chosen as the default for its modern, accessible, and freedom-oriented structure.
Compiler and Toolchain: At the center of the system architecture stand GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) and the GNU Toolchain.
Supported Programming Languages and Technologies
The most critical condition for a technology to exist in the PSD ecosystem is 100% compatibility with Copyleft licensing and the Free Software philosophy. Accordingly, the languages that are supported and in which development will be pursued are as follows:
Low-Level and Systems Programming: GNU Assembler, C, C++.
Modern Systems and Network Programming: Rust, Go.
Functional and AI-Oriented Programming: Lisp derivatives.
Scripting and Web Programming: Python, PHP, Ruby.
Enterprise and Platform-Independent Solutions: Java and all other languages compatible with the philosophy.
Project Details: Why Should We Care About PSD?

Through the Copyleft licensing model (AGPLv3 and the like), PSD guarantees that the code you produce remains always open and the property of society. 3. A Transparent System You Can See Into: The project adopts the Linux-libre structure, which contains no proprietary code components (binary blobs). As a result, there are no "black boxes" that hide what is happening in the operating system you use. For a computer scientist, there can be no better laboratory.
4. Merit-Based Democratic Governance (Meritocracy): In this project it is not your age, your corporate title, or your money that speaks—it is the code you write and the value you bring to the community. Once you join the ecosystem and prove your ability (Committer level), you can take part in the transparent and democratic elections of the core team that decides the project’s future (the Condorcet system) and help set the vision yourselves.
