To BilişimSen Members and the Public: A Call for Trade-Union Democracy and Transparency

Dear IT workers and honorable members of BilişimSen;
We founded this union to grow solidarity through the technical power of labor against precarity, mobbing, and the disregard for merit in the IT sector. During the founding phase, each of us put our shoulder to the wheel—from the website to social media, from educational content to organizing models.
However, we are saddened to see that our union, even before it has held its first Ordinary General Assembly, is showing signs of 'opacity in decision-making processes' and 'being confined to the initiative of a particular group.'
- The union's official communication channels and digital assets (social media accounts, web management, etc.) have been removed from collective oversight and turned into the personal possession of a narrow circle.
- Members who offer criticism and demand transparency are being removed from communication groups and excluded, without any democratic disciplinary process being applied.
- Most importantly, the most fundamental right of the members—the right to 'elect, be elected, and be informed'—has been suspended by the uncertainty of the General Assembly calendar."
The IT sector is built on transparency (open-source), merit, and participation. A closed-circuit understanding of management is contrary to the genetics of BilişimSen. The union is not the side branch of a party or the 'backyard' of a group; it is the independent and democratic fortress of all IT workers.
So that this course of events does not harm our union, we demand;
- that the date of the first Ordinary General Assembly and the preparation calendar be announced without delay,
- that the union's bylaws and financial/administrative reports be opened to all members,
- that the official communication channels be cleansed of 'factional' approaches and brought into an institutional structure.
We are the watchful guardians of our labor and our union.
BilişimSen belongs to its members!
