Fascism in the Source Code: Palantir, AI Capitalism, and Humanity's Common Resistance

Today the IT sector faces the most refined, most reckless, and most unregulated mechanism of exploitation in history. The threat before us is not merely low wages or long working hours; it is a digital totalitarianism, married to state apparatuses, that is trying to seize all of humanity's accumulation, data, and future. The core architecture, the production code, and the ideological brain of this dark ecosystem are companies like Palantir Technologies.

In this dossier, using the terminology of the IT world, we decipher not the clowns in the shop window, but the real architecture of exploitation behind them.

System Analysis: What Is Palantir and Why Is It in the Crosshairs?

Palantir is not an ordinary Silicon Valley company trying to sell ads to the user. It is a network of digital mercenaries that grants "root authority" to the coercive apparatuses of states (intelligence, army, police, immigration bureaus). It has three core products:

  • Gotham: A mass-profiling software that, under the name of intelligence and counterterrorism, combines the phone signals, bank accounts, social-circle maps, and biometric data of millions of people.
  • Foundry: A data-integration platform that enables corporate capital to algorithmically whip the labor force, production, and the supply chain.
  • Apollo: The deployment engine that ensures these surveillance and control systems run uninterrupted on every kind of infrastructure.

The World Order Palantir Dreams Of

Palantir's vision is a techno-determinist prison in which human dignity and workers' rights are completely liquidated, and society is reduced to mere "data sets" governed by algorithms. In their construct, the judiciary, parliament, or public oversight are mere "system-slowing shackles." Decisions are made not transparently, but inside proprietary (copyrighted/closed) code, according to corporate interests.

Historical Continuity: From Hitler's Holocaust Cards to America's Palantir

This recklessness, which today rears up with artificial intelligence, did not drop out of the sky. The capitalist class has always used the most advanced technology of the day to bring the masses under domination.

The 1930s: NAZI GERMANY & IBM: The logistical infrastructure of the Holocaust was optimized with Punch Cards. Population data was placed at the service of fascism.

The 2020s: U.S. IMPERIALISM & PALANTIR: The hunting of migrants, autonomous drone targeting, and social opposition. Automated with Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.

Just as IBM's punch-card technology made the logistical infrastructure of the Nazi concentration camps flawless yesterday, today Palantir's artificial intelligence algorithms likewise automate U.S. imperialism's deportation operations, the human hunt in migrant camps, and the autonomous drone strikes in the Middle East. The logic of fascism is the same: Centralize the data, objectify the human being, make the sovereignty of capital absolute.

Palantir's portfolio is full of projects—hidden behind fairy tales of innovation—designed to violate human rights and automate mass surveillance. The algorithms and data-integration models the company develops grant "root" authority, on a global scale, to the repressive apparatuses of states.

What Has Palantir Done?

A summary of the darkest projects in which Palantir has been directly involved and which have repeatedly been reported by human rights organizations (Amnesty International, ACLU, etc.):

1. ICE (U.S. Immigration Bureau) Operations: FALCON and ICM

Palantir has been the largest logistical and technological partner in the tracking, profiling, and deportation of migrants in the U.S.

  • Human Rights Violation: The ICM (Investigative Case Management) and FALCON systems developed combined migrants' family ties, workplace addresses, phone records, and biometric data to set up a real-time "human hunt" mechanism. This software directly provided the infrastructure for tearing thousands of migrant families apart from one another and sending them to concentration camps where children were kept in cages.

2. Project Maven: AI-Driven Death Algorithms

This is an artificial intelligence project launched by the Pentagon for autonomous weapons and drone technologies.

  • Human Rights Violation: When Google engineers protested this project by saying "We will not write code for killer robots" and forced the company to withdraw from it, Palantir did not hesitate to take the project over. The project analyzes, with artificial intelligence, the vast video footage coming from military drones, automating the identification of human targets. That is, Palantir writes the target-acquisition algorithm for the autonomous air strikes that have also caused the deaths of civilians in the Middle East and various regions of the world.

3. Predictive Policing / LAPD and New Orleans

Palantir set up networks of social surveillance by making secret agreements with many state police forces in the U.S. (especially Los Angeles and New Orleans).

  • Human Rights Violation: In operations like Project LASER, past crime data, license-plate recognition systems, and social media activity were analyzed in an attempt to algorithmically predict "who might commit a crime." This led to algorithms with racist biases placing Black and Hispanic neighborhoods in particular under blockade, and to thousands of innocent people living under constant harassment and surveillance as "potential criminals." A digital "Minority Report" dystopia was turned into reality.

4. NHS (UK National Health Service) Data Monopoly

Palantir, seizing the pandemic period as an opportunity, won a billion-pound tender to manage Britain's vast public health database (NHS).

  • Human Rights Violation: The most intimate medical histories, genetic data, and disease records of millions of people were handed over, without any transparent oversight, to a private company whose record is full of military intelligence. Despite the protests of the British public and health workers, public health data was turned into raw material for corporate profits and future biometric surveillance models.

5. Plans to Silence WikiLeaks and Activists (Operation Firehose)

According to leaked secret documents, Palantir formed a consortium with other cyber-intelligence firms such as HBGary and Berico Technologies and submitted a proposal to the American Bankers Association.

  • Human Rights Violation: In order to prevent WikiLeaks from exposing bank corruption, they prepared a comprehensive plan of "psychological warfare and destruction" to sabotage journalists, blackmail the families of activists, spread disinformation with forged documents, and conduct cyberattacks on WikiLeaks' infrastructure. Freedom of expression and independent journalism were directly targeted.

These projects of Palantir are concrete proof of how IT technologies can turn into instruments of mass destruction and repression when they move away from public oversight. To see in whose hands every line of code written and every database designed turns into a weapon is the most fundamental responsibility of all technology workers.

Algorithmic War: AI-Driven Unemployment and Futurelessness

Capitalism construes artificial intelligence not as an automation revolution that will free humanity from drudgery, but as a weapon that will lower the value of living labor and dispossess the working class. In Marx's words, a vast "reserve industrial army" is being created.

Concrete Processes and the Layoffs Being Experienced

  • Code Automation and the Slaughter of Juniors: Using the integration of LLMs (Large Language Models) as a pretext, big tech firms have shown the door to hundreds of thousands of IT workers worldwide over the past two years. By placing artificial intelligence tools beside a senior software developer, companies load the work of three people onto one person and declare junior (entry-level) developer positions entirely "deprecated."
  • The Exploitation of Content Moderation and Data Labeling: Giants like OpenAI, Google, and Palantir exploit thousands of people working for 1-2 dollars an hour in Kenya and the Philippines by exposing them to traumatic data in order to train their artificial intelligences. When the work is done, they push these people out of the system without paying any compensation.
  • Precaritization: The fixed, secure, unionized work model is being replaced by a precarious mass (the gig economy)—left to the mercy of algorithms, dependent on the platform, and rendered jobless once the project ends.

Puppets and the Perverse Back Rooms of Capital

The media constantly tells us about Peter Thiel's philosophical darkness, Elon Musk's rockets, or Donald Trump's crazy tweets. These names are distractions that conceal the system's real direction.

  • The Representatives of Capital: Figures like Trump or far-right politicians are "CEO-bureaucrats" programmed to remove the legal obstacles before companies like Palantir within the state apparatus. Their task is to hand over public health, education, and security data to these monopolies.
  • The Epstein Networks and Class Decay: That perverse, corrupt web of relationships we saw in the Jeffrey Epstein cases is not merely the individual immorality of these billionaires. That web is a structural sewer, built on blackmail and complicity, where global finance capital, Silicon Valley investors, and political elites hold one another hostage.

Our real grievance is not with these figures, but with the capitalist property relations that produce and protect them.

Without Public Oversight, There Is No Future

Artificial intelligence technologies grant, for the first time in history, a power of control to the ruling class that knows no borders and is independent of geography. If no public/social oversight can be established over these algorithms, source codes, and data centers, the only future before humanity is digital slavery.

  • The secret HR algorithms that manage your hiring processes,
  • The artificial intelligence models that predict your likelihood of unionizing from your social media activity and blacklist you,
  • The systems that measure your performance from your keystroke speed at the office (keystroke metrics) and dismiss you without compensation...

When there is no public oversight and transparency, technology turns into a digital guillotine swinging over the head of the working class.

The Class Solution: Hacking the Digital Dystopia with a Marxist Architecture

The way out of this dystopia created by Palantir and its techno-feudal partners is not liberal data-privacy laws, ethical AI declarations, or personal digital detoxes. The only way is to put an end to private property over the means of production.

A Marxist perspective on the future expresses the following concrete infrastructure change for the IT world:

  1. The Nationalization of Servers and Infrastructure: Data centers, cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and fiber-optic networks must be taken from the ownership of a few billionaires and made the common public property of humanity.
  2. Open-Source Society: All algorithms that govern society, production, and planning must be open-source. The code must be transparent, auditable, and subject to the approval of workers' councils.
  3. Planning for Need, Not for Profit: Artificial intelligence must be coordinated not to increase the bosses' profit margin by laying off workers, but to reduce weekly working hours to 15, to plan production according to social needs, and to free humanity from drudgery.

Our urgent action plan that will unleash the power of IT workers and build a bridge from today to tomorrow:

Networking and Global API Integration (International Grassroots Solidarity)

While awaiting the borderless world of the future, today we must confront the techno-feudal companies with a global workers' network.

  • Cross-Border Flow of Information: We must establish direct, grassroots-level communication networks with our colleagues working at Amazon, Google, or large outsourcing firms. We must build digital coordination channels (Signal groups, anonymous forums) that will instantly announce a violation of rights, a layoff, or union-busting in one country to IT workers in others.
  • Global Strike Memory: We must localize the legal gains and action practices of the world's IT unions (AWU, UTAW, Solidaires Informatique) and use them as a struggle guide in our own workplaces.

Algorithmic Resistance and Thwarting "Bossware" Software

Against the spyware (bossware) that companies use to monitor us, measure our performance, and exploit us further, we must weave an actual barricade starting today.

  • Collective Slowdown Under Surveillance: Against systems that monitor our every movement at the computer (keystrokes, screen tracking), we must develop not individual but collective reflexes. As a department, we must anchor our working pace not to the limits of slavery imposed by the algorithms, but to the standards of "humane and error-free production" (Clean Code).
  • Deciphering the Black Boxes: We must anonymously expose, through our union networks, the secret HR algorithms that companies use to fire us or lower our performance scores, and create public awareness against this algorithmic injustice.

Actually Enforcing the Right to Digital Rest (Right to Disconnect)

Without waiting for laws to be passed or parliaments to approve, we must draw the limits of working hours with our own organized will.

  • Shattering the Illusion of 24/7 Availability: We must make it a mass workplace rule not to answer Slack, Teams, or WhatsApp messages that arrive after the end of the workday. When one person does this, they become a target; but when an entire software or systems team goes offline after 6 p.m., the bosses are forced to respect working hours.
  • The Secret Record of Overtime: We must officially record every extra hour worked, every "commit" pushed on the weekend, and archive it in our union database for future collective agreements and legal processes.

A Wall of Job Security Against the AI Meat Grinder

We must say "halt" today to the use of artificial intelligence—a constructive technology—by capital as a tool for the slaughter and dispossession of workers.

  • Imposing Protection Clauses in Contracts: We must apply organized pressure to insert into every kind of contract signed in workplaces the clause: "Artificial intelligence and automation tools cannot be made, directly or indirectly, a justification for dismissal, wage reduction, or staff cuts."
  • Junior-Senior Solidarity: We must ensure that senior IT workers do not allow artificial intelligence to take the place of their entry-level (junior) colleagues. Senior workers must use their accumulated knowledge not to train companies' automation models, but to mentor their young coworkers.

"Conscientious Objection" and Ethical Code in Technology Production

To prevent the labor we produce from turning into a weapon against humanity, the working class, or nature is our greatest moral and class task today.

  • Refusing Anti-Humanity Projects: We must declare the right to refuse to work (Conscientious Objection) on projects of mass surveillance, worker profiling, cyber-censorship, or military destruction as a union principle. We must organize the collective withdrawal of software developers, designers, and data scientists from such projects.
  • Advocacy for Open Source: We must organize campaigns demanding that public data not remain secret and that state and corporate software be transparent and open-source. Transparency is the greatest antidote to techno-fascism.

Building the Infrastructure of the Future Today

The perfect system will not drop out of the sky or remain only in theoretical books. The Marxist world of the future—free of exploitation, where production is planned for the benefit of humanity—will be built with every small, uncompromising struggle we wage in workplaces today, with every clause of slavery we reject, and with every single colleague we bring side by side.

A Call to IT Workers

We are the ones who design the databases, optimize the algorithms, and bring the servers to life. That is, we are the "runtime" engine of the system they boast about so much. We must become aware of our power. Against the threat of unemployment and futurelessness with which capital sets us against one another, the only antivirus is to become aware of our rights and to organize with class consciousness.

We will bring down the scenarios of slavery written by the dark forces with our organized power at the heart of production.

IT workers of the world, unite!
